The Odell Dilemma

This week we are going to focus on the ever so eccentric, in your face, doesn’t give a flying hoot about how you feel, Odell Beckham Jr.  Beckham is no stranger to being in the spot light since being drafted to the Giants in 2014 and has gained many followers since then, but not everyone seems to be impressed or pleased by his temper tantrums on the field, including the Refs.

The New York Giants loss to the Vikings this past Monday had many fans upset and baffled but no more than the superstar receiver who thinks that the refs were treating him unfairly. Midway through the second half, Beckham was hit out of bounds on a four-yard catch and it wasn’t called by the refs.

A flag was thrown after the play but there were no penalties. Beckham then took it upon himself to be petty and started to mouth off to Vikings cornerback, Xavier Rhodes, which cost his team 15 yards. After the game Beckham went on to talk about his unjust treatment from the refs.

“There’s never an explanation (from the officials). It’s always it’s just my fault. That’s all I look at it as, it’s my fault. I just have to understand if I sneeze the wrong way it’ll be a flag, it’ll be a fine,” Beckham said after the game. “If I tie my shoe the wrong way it might be a fine or a flag.

You would think is arrogance would stop there but wait, there’s more, “As tough as it is to understand for a 23-year-old who has been blessed with a lot – God has given me a lot of ability, amazing amount of everything – and it seems like it’s all working against you. But what are you gonna do, are you gonna back down or stand up? And I’ve never been one to back down.”

Now reading this, you have to be thinking “well how do his teammate feel about this?

“He’s got to play smart and he can’t afford to do anything they’ll call. He’s kind of brought that upon himself, so he’s got to realize that,” Giants QB Eli Manning said. There is no doubt, we can’t afford the penalties.”

Ouch.
